The kick-off and training conference for ‘China Food Consumption Survey’ in 2021 was held June 16-18 in Beijing by China National Center for Food Safety Risk Assessment (CFSA). Division directiors from Health Committee of different provinces and experts from related Centers for Disease Control and Prevention of Inner Mongolia, Liaoning, Zhejiang, Fujian, Jiangxi, Hubei, Chongqing and Gansu provinces attended the meeting. Ruiming Zhang, director of department of food safety standards, risk surveillance and assessment, National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China addressed the meeting, which chaired by Dr. Jianwen Li, deputy director of the department of applied nutrition II.
Ruiming Zhang acknowledged the achievements CFSA had made during the past nine years in China Food Consumption Survey. He stressed that all work should carry out normally while fighting against COVID-19, including ensuring the quality of the data, improving traditional working mode, strengthening data sharing systems. The data of China Food Consumption Survey will play a greater role in food safety risk assessment and national nutrition.
The scientific content of the training was mainly focused on the introduction of survey plan in 2021, the explanation of questionnaires, food weight estimation procedure, quality control, household survey skills, physical measurement methods and investigation interview system operation, etc.
This training course was comprehensive and improved the importance of food consumption survey, promoted the communication among different trainees. It laid a solid foundation for China Food Consumption Survey in 2021.
